A Loud and Joyful Noise
Psalm 100 is a short, explosive song of pure praise. It starts by telling us to “Make a joyful noise to the Lord, all the earth!” Worship isn’t meant to be passive or timid. It’s an active expression of gratitude. When we focus on who God is, a joyful noise is the natural byproduct—even on the days when our circumstances don’t feel completely joyful.
Remembering Whose We Are
Verse 3 anchors our praise in a fundamental truth: “Know that the Lord, he is God! It is he who made us, and we are his; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture.” We don’t have to carry the weight of the universe on our shoulders because we aren’t the creators—He is. We belong to a Good Shepherd who guides us, feeds us, and protects us.
Entering the Gates
We are invited to enter His gates with thanksgiving and His courts with praise. Gratitude is the doorway into a deeper awareness of God’s presence. When we shift our focus from what we don’t have to what God has already done, our entire perspective changes. His steadfast love is eternal, and His faithfulness lasts through every generation.
Lord,
I praise You today because You are good! Thank You for making me, for choosing me, and for being my Shepherd. I choose to enter this day with a thankful heart, focused on Your goodness rather than my problems. Your steadfast love never fails, and I am so grateful that Your faithfulness covers my past, my present, and my future.
Amen.
