Mercy Triumphs Over Judgment

In this message from the Book of James, discover how true faith is forged in mercy and love. Learn why “mercy triumphs over judgment” and how living out God’s Word changes everything.

This past weekend at ONE was powerful — not just because of what was preached, but because of how God moved. From the men’s conference that ended with anointed prayer and $851 raised to provide devotionals for men in the darkest places, to a message from the book of James that cut straight to the heart, the theme was clear: faith in action changes everything.

In James 2:1–13, we’re reminded not to show favoritism — to resist judging by appearances, wealth, or status — and instead to live out the “law of liberty.” That means letting Scripture be our standard, love be our law, and mercy be our message.

Mercy, as Pastor reminded us, is withholding what someone deserves while offering what they don’t. It’s grace lived outwardly. It’s refusing to write people off because of how they look, what they’ve done, or where they’ve come from. Mercy isn’t weakness — it’s strength in surrender to the heart of God.

So how are you treating people? At home, at work, in the grocery store line — are you showing mercy or judgment? James says, “Mercy triumphs over judgment.” May that be the echo of our lives this week — that no one walks alone, and everyone knows the One.
